Halloween Celebration At Sachdeva School Sahnewal

Halloween is celebrated every year on October 31

in many countries around the world.

The evening before was known as All Hallows Eve, and later Halloween.

The tradition of Halloween on 31 October comes from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain.

Samhain was the Celtic New Year and they celebrated it on 1 November because that was the end of summer and harvest time (life) and the beginning of winter (death).

It was also the time for ghosts to return to earth for a day.

People lit a big fire, wore special clothes made of animal skin and hoped to be safe from the ghosts and the winter.

Some people like scary costumes such as ghosts, witches, or skeletons, but a lot of people dress up in fun costumes like superheroes, movie stars, or cartoon characters.

Children celebrate the day by going trick-or-treating at night. They go from door to door saying "Trick or treat". The person at the door usually gives them some candy.

If a house owner do not give any candies to them then the kids would play some mischievous prank on them.

Big pumpkins are carved into lanterns and put off for display by people in their houses.

Some people like to visit haunted locations, watch horror movies or share scary stories with each other. holding costume parties or creating haunted houses or graveyards.

Some people light bonfire in their houses to keep them safe from ghosts or evil

spirits.

Bats, black cats and spiders are often connected with this holiday. These animals are associated with the night and darkness and often accompany witches and wizards.

There are also a range of objects associated with

Halloween. These include blood fire, gravestones, pumpkins, bones and skulls. They all have connections with death, the spirit world or protecting property from evil spirits.

On 31st October, 2022, Sachdeva School Celebrated Halloween day which is a global festival.students carried out spooky parade and enjoyed fun-filled activities. There was music, spooky decor and entire school was decked up with Halloween themed decoration.
